This is the NEW spec 2024 Expedition Antenna with Speed Slots and quick-release elements for super-fast deployment and tear-down.
Order now for early delivery 2nd week August 2023. (USA shipping is only 48 hours).
Sporting a military looking colour in a matt cayote brown and grey marine UV stable plates. The expedition is ideally suitable for 3-elements (4 bands). Delivering first-class performance on 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m.
The new Expedition has a metal alloy base and screwcap and comes with an insulator clamp that must be fitted just above the housing clamp.
There are enough components supplied and pre-drilled holes for those who seek WARC band type performance too simultaneously. For instance, 12m, 17m and even 80m as an inverted L.
Out-the-box, this is not suitable for 30m because there are no upper spreaders high enough to fit a quarter-wave on 30m, however instead, you can make a shortened Inverted L.
Multi-Band Expedition System based on the Expedition / SOTA / Portable Travel pole and up to 6-wire elements to give you any number of bands you wish. This is the 2024 spec with NEW screw base and stronger components (See components page).
With just 4 elements (three major elements and one up the side), this will deliver:
- 40m
- 20m
- 17m
- 15m
- 10m
- 6m
Note: 80m *will* work on this system. Make up an element 19m long and come off at the 5m point across to a tree / bush / fence post to create an Inverted L. Yes, the pole is a little bendy but it will work.
The kit includes a custom reel of 100m DX10 super-flexible black 22-core antenna wire, tested to 1600W for 65 seconds key down at 14MHz.
This is almost the same as the regular All-Band Vertical “Classic”, but the pole is only 65 cms long in it’s compact form to allow ease of travel / back-pack etc. There are many more telescopic sections to create the whole 30 feet (or so) but the main section is the same physical external diameter as the “Classic” this means that eash section has a lower wall-thickness. Just beware of this. It is designed for portable use.
The Expedition Pole is deceptive. We think that lower wall thickness means less strength however in testing, the flexible walls only means that the pole bends more – which for us as radio operators is a benefit. Of course if you stand on it, it has less strength but it’s not designed for standing on.
